Football is a theater covered in colors and filled with passionate voices seeking the highest levels of happiness. In the theater itself, conflicting and sad feelings also prevail, and there opponents and loved ones meet for the love of a group of players, city teams around the world, or national teams.

In football, there is nothing like the World Cup, as it is a tournament that can be said to be the meeting point of different cultures, and an event that bridges the distances imposed by geography. In the country that hosts the World Cup, you can meet a man who came from South Africa and another who flew from Alaska, and you can learn about different languages, ways of celebration and customs.

What distinguishes the World Cup is that it attracts those who do not follow football and do not care about its news on a daily basis. Every 4 years, they find themselves stuck in front of screens to follow players who may not have heard of them. What is the story of the World Cup, which is held every 4 years?

Before the start of the World Cup, football competitions that were included in the Olympic Games received a lot of attention, and in the 1920s, the game's organizers were trying to develop and give it a more professional look.

Therefore, the idea of the World Cup was born in the year 1904, in the French capital, Paris. On that day, the members of the International Football Association "FIFA", in the presence of 7 countries: Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden, spoke about the launch of a special tournament for the Federation away from the Olympic Games, as the first popular sport in the world was not appreciated enough.

But the official decision took a long time due to several things, the most prominent of which was the rejection of the idea of the championship by the International Olympic Committee; For fear of its impact on the ancient Olympics, as well as for fear of the International Federation controlling the most popular game in the world.

The idea was brought back into the limelight in 1921 by French lawyer Jules Rimet, who was president of the French Football Federation between 1919 and 1945, and also served as president of FIFA between 1921 and 1954.

After 7 years, the official decision came to launch a world championship for football teams, on May 26, 1928, and the name of the tournament was the "Victory Cup".

Uruguay applied to organize the tournament, and it was approved; She was the leader of the teams at the time and the champion of the last two Olympics, and provided facilities for the participating teams.

The International Federation paid the expenses of the teams and their difficult transportation at that time.

In 1930, the tournament saw the light, and the first edition of the World Cup was played, and since then, the tournament has been held every 4 years, and was stopped during the Second World War.

However, before the start of the tournament, there was a condition that a precious prize must be presented to the winning team, and the award was the Gold Cup, which was named the "Jules Rimet Cup" in his honor.
